Natural Growing is Best (Image)

Microgreens thrive by growing with organic soil and natural sunlight, moistened with pure rainwater

NATURAL GROWING IS BEST

NATURAL GROWING IS BEST

Conventional agriculture uses various chemicals to eliminate diseases, boost yields, and speed growth. These provide “cheap food”. But researchers are becoming aware of problems caused by this artificial approach. Natural growing requires more skill and effort; but more and more customers are realizing the values of:

  • produce with more healthy phytonutrients
  • richer flavours (with absence of off-flavours)
  • more appealing textures and brighter colours
  • extended shelf-life (meaning less food waste)

We accomplish this by:

  • starting with Certified Organic (non-GMO) seeds
  • planting into biologically active soil
  • growing with natural sunlight
  • watering with pure rainwater (from our roof)

For Your Food Safety (Image)

With food-grade cleaning and processing equipment, we excel at food safety protocols

FOR YOUR FOOD SAFETY

FOR YOUR FOOD SAFETY

Our food safety protocols are designed to assure your health. CanadaGAP (Good Agricultural Practices) certifies that we follow their rigorous food safety program.

  • Wash water is regularly tested deep well water, which has never shown any contamination. Nevertheless it is filtered with activated carbon then sterilized with ultraviolet (UV) light (never with toxic chlorine).
  • Irrigation water is pure soft rainwater collected from our greenhouse roof and stored in our underground cistern. This water is kept pure by ecologically bubbling fresh air pumped from our windmill.
  • None of our seeds have ever been a GMO variety, or treated with fungicides or pesticides.
  • All our seeds are independently tested to confirm they have no pathogen contamination.
  • All work surfaces and workers’ hands are cleaned and sterilized prior to each new task.
  • We have never had a positive test! But to be proactive, we regularly test our soil and finished products for specific E-Coli 0157:H7, Salmonella, Shigella and Listeria contamination.
  • Growing our plants in natural sunlight provides sufficient UV light to prevent pathogen growth.
  • We have never used any herbicides, pesticides, or synthetic fertilizers in our soils.
